stop me if you think that you've heard this one before
Friday, March 5, 2010 at 6:52AM Starting on Monday, work changed for the absolute better. Which is good, because it means life, more generally, changed for the absolute better. Three cheers for progress!
This also reminded me that I hadn't changed my LinkedIn profile since, oh, I don't know, 2006? 2007? So if you've got a pending invite to me, I'm getting there; I'm getting there. For now, three boos for stagnation!
But, like the title of this post implies, this is not a new story to anyone who has read any personal blog, by anyone, for at least a month. We all go through a week or so when the posts are few and far between and we leave at best mere traces of footprints online at all, barely commenting, tweeting sparingly, like we're on a social media diet and 140 characters:fast food :: blog posts:carbs.
And so, stop me if you think that you've heard this one before:
There was this one post I almost wrote for Wednesday. And then this other post I almost wrote yesterday. And then this idea I had this morning that I couldn't fully execute. Oh; and there's the reading of blogs not written by me (hint: by you and yours) that I haven't gotten to, this week.
Blah, blah. Plus, yadda.
What I really mean is that this whole interactive thing is as good as it gets and you make me want to be a better blogger.
What?
I know; I know. I'm laying it on a little thick because it has been days since I've had a chance to say something to make us all feel a little awkward.
Anyway.
It's Friday, so I probably owe you some music. I wish I could embed the song which inspired the title - I think Daniel Merriweather is great - but the YouTube tells me that would be illegal. So you'll have to click through. It's not new, but it's definitely cool.
Here's hoping that, like, I'm better, and stuff, with words, and things, next, week; knowaddeyemean?

I don't think I've signed on my linked in profile... since I created it. I don't even know what LinkedIn is, to be honest with you. We all need weeks of unplugging. I have been really bad at social networking for the last month... I really want to be more in tune, but sometimes I feel so stretched out. I read this article this morning about balancing your attention and not letting social networking take over your life, and it made me feel a lot better.
have a great weekend!
My LinkedIn profile still tells me that my profile is only half complete. I've put in all the information I have!
I have never updated my LinkedIn profile, but apparently I have one, because I do get requests. Hmm, maybe I'll work on that. I'm going on an intentional blog diet for a while, but every other break I've taken I accidentally fell into the way you described.
Once again it turns out that we have very similar tastes in music. Both Mark Ronson and Daniel Merriweather are a lot of fun.
I know what you mean- I've been running low on the social media scene too, real life is getting in the way.
Love love love the Mark Ronson song (yes, I know about it too). I haven't decided about his new album yet, the first single hasn't quite grown on me yet.
And a nugget of wisdom for you & commenters: get your LinkedIn up to 100% with some recommendations. I can't tell you how many people have said a full profile is the key to, well, things.
Its funny how work and life goes hand in hand. When one is good, they are both good. When one is suffering, the other suffers along with it.
